Mechanical Turk

This 10-second animation reimagines the iconic Mechanical Turk as a slot machine adorned with digital emojis representing life in the digital age. As the lever is pulled, familiar symbols such as the cat and pleading face emoji appear. Unexpectedly, a face emoji composed of two eye symbols and a mouth appears, only to reveal the hidden presence of the Mechanical Turk within the depths of the machine. The slot machine, draped in darkness, symbolizes the concept of black box technology, alluding to the obscured processes of modern tech. By merging together familiar emojis with the hidden figure of the Mechanical Turk, we invite viewers to ponder the enigmatic nature of digital systems. Simple, cute, and satirical, this project aims to spark reflection on the complexities that underlie our tech-driven world.
